Meter
We developed the concept of measuring
the amount of energy exchanged from/to the ground by comparing
the entering and exiting water temperatures of the fluid within
the closed loop and multiplying this temperature differential
by the fluid's flow rate at certain points throughout the EHX
system. This metering system utilizes tried-and-true heat meter
components custom designed by ABB for EnLink. Similar components
have been used for many years in Europe to accurately measure
energy transfer in "district heating" applications.
Metering energy flow to/from the ground and electricity consumption
associated with the GHP system allows EnLink to monitor, optimize
and quantify EHX system performance. Furthermore, our metering
technology enables EnLink to accurately calculate the NOx,
SOx, and CO2 emissions avoided via implementation
of a GHP system. Increasingly, this benefit can be monetized
through a variety of government-sponsored incentive and credit
programs. The EnLink Energy Metering System can also be used
as a basis for generating monthly or periodic invoices for
thermal energy consumption.
